This course is for beginners and for those who need a refresher course. Basic black and white darkroom techniques will be covered.

The class will cover B&W films and papers and the developers used to process negatives and print. We will cover making the contact sheet, printing a test strip and the finished print. Also covered will be techniques of dodging and burning, use of hot developer and spot development. Different techniques of including black borders on prints will be learned as well as how to properly wash and dry prints.
Students will need to have access to a 35mm or medium format camera (smaller than 4x5)

The majority of class time is devoted to working in the darkroom and building printing techniques. Additional darkroom time is available to students at an hourly fee on weekends.
